Mitie & the UK Facilities Management

Project Type: Expert Call

Honorarium: 350 GBP

Time Commitment: 60 mins

Description

We are conducting a research study on competitive dynamics in the UK facilities management market, commissioned by a client of Woozle Research. We are looking to speak with senior professionals who have owned or shaped bids, commercial strategy or procurement decisions for large national facilities management (FM) and total facilities management (TFM) contracts in the UK. Relevant backgrounds include bid directors, commercial directors, sales directors, operations directors or divisional managing directors at national FM and TFM providers, including those with hard services, integrated services or critical environments responsibilities. We are equally keen to hear from customer-side experts — heads of category, supply chain or commercial leads who have bought FM, estates or asset care services for large multi-site organisations, including in the nuclear, defence and central government estates. Experience of nuclear or critical-environment FM is of particular interest, as is direct involvement in national multi-site tender processes. Current employees of firms with restrictions on external discussions should not participate; we work with former executives and independent consultants, and all conversations exclude confidential or non-public information.

The discussion will focus on how large national FM and TFM work is actually bought and won in the UK. Themes include the structure of national tender processes, how customers define and package requirements, the profile of providers typically shortlisted, and how buyers assess credibility for integrated or hard services delivery at national scale. We also expect to cover the role of subcontracting and consortium bidding, whether demand is consolidating into national contracts or fragmenting toward regional lots and single-service arrangements, and how pricing and competitive intensity have evolved in recent years. Where relevant to your background, we will explore procurement practice in specialist environments such as nuclear and defence estates.

The format is a one-to-one telephone or video interview lasting approximately 60 minutes, guided by a structured discussion agenda tailored to your background. Interviews are being scheduled over the coming weeks at a time convenient to you. Participants receive an honorarium of GBP 350 for their time.
